Gunk from mom2lars
This is an old family favorite that is not very good for you and is time consuming to make, but tastes great and freezes wonderfully. I typically make a double batch, and freeze most of it for later use. It's a great dip for chips, filler for burritos, nachos, tostadas, etc.

1 1/2 lbs ground beef

1 lb cheese (cojack, cheddar, colby all work well)

16 oz garbanzo beans

1 onion, chopped

3 sliced jalapeno peppers

  1. Prepare beans: boil in large pot for 1 minute, remove from heat and let soak for 1 hour.
  2. Add onion, simmer on low for 3-4 hours (even overnight). Drain water.
  3. Brown ground beef.
  4. Add to beans, plus all remaining ingredients. Mix/mash/food process 'til it reaches the desired consistency (smoothly lumpy).
